As we enter the middle of May, the rest of the year will fly by. The Senior class has their last day of classes tomorrow and then head into final exams next week. The senior prom is also tomorrow evening. It will be held at the Fairmont Copley in Boston. Be sure to join us for the promenade Friday afternoon at 4:15 PM as we head to the buses for the trek to Boston.

Something old…something new …As most of you know, I am calling it a career here at SLRHS. The outpouring of well wishes has been overwhelming to me. I am a very fortunate man, i have never worked a day in my life! Even though some days have been more trying than others over the years, I have loved every minute. Silver Lake  is a remarkable high school and Silver LAke is a remarkable community. Thank you for your support over the years. Together we have built an amazing high school program. The Department of Education recently came out with rankings of high schools in Massachusetts based on graduation rate. Silver Lake came in number nine in the state! That is a great honor and is testament to the outstanding faculty, staff, student body and families in our district. You can check out the entire article by clicking on the link. In case you missed it … Our school was featured on WCVB Channel 5 Wake Up Call segment last week. We were chosen from hundreds of schools. Watch the video and see us advertise the junior and senior class fund-raiser for Laker Crunch.

Congratulations to the Baseball Team and Softball Team for outstanding seasons. Both teams clinched the Patriot League Championship last week ! Can’t wait to throw out the first pitch in the playoffs.

The SLRHS Chapter of Best Buddies recently held their annual field day on our athletic fields. Here is a picture of our members along with members of the Silver Lake Middle School partners. A great time was had by all. Games and food were abundant. I enjoyed playing catch and having a Fenway Frank with the students.

Senior Prom 2013Kim_and_Ron_at_the_Senior_Prom_by_CommanderArgus

This year’s prom and promenade were held in beautiful spring weather. Over 400 students enjoyed themselves at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel Ballroom in Boston. I do not know where these students get their energy. As soon as dinner was over, everyone danced the night away. I am very pleased with the way our students conduct themselves. They are great representatives of our school. Kingston, Halifax, and Plympton Police escorted the buses on to the high way and Sgt. Poytrikus and Officer Lanatra welcomed us back into the school at midnight. Thanks to all those community members who attended the promenade. This was my 36th prom and it was one of the best! Congratulations to Mackenzie Springer and Andrea Roche, Prom King and Queen 2013. Here are a few photos from the night …
