It seems like a mighty long time …

Back in 1974 as a senior in college, my genetics professor said to me …”Richard …never say never.” That thought has stuck with me all these many years. Of course, the statement itself is contradictory which makes it even more thought-provoking. Remember, it was the 70’s!  The events that took place in Boston last Monday at the Boston Marathon finish line are horrific, terrifying, and heart wrenching. It is unimaginable that something like this took place so close to home. Here at school, I take my genetics professor’s words to heart. We can’t let our guard down and say “It will never happen here”. As we all know, acts like this can happen anywhere…and it did. I want to reassure you, as much as possible, that we will continue to be vigilant here at school with all aspects of your child’s education, that clearly includes their safety. You have entrusted us with what is MOST PRECIOUS to all of us …our children. Here at SLRHS, we will not let our guard down. We will continue to review and amend our safety plans as necessary, we will continue to practice drills, and we will continue to treat the safety of our staff and students as paramount importance.

Parents of Seniors Graduation Information Sessions

As has been my practice for the last several years, I will hold two identical parent information sessions to go over the process of graduation. Our graduation committee, made up of students, parents, teachers, and administrators has been meeting since January to plan this important event. If you would like to attend a brief, 20 minute, presentation about graduation for the class of 2013, please plan to attend one of the following sessions. The session will essentially review the packet of materials mailed to you in early March. I’ll also be able to answer any questions that you may have.
