Automotive Students Bring Home the Prize

Automotive Technology students Joseph Tupper and Hayden Frazier show off their hardware

With 544 vocational students competing from our region, and 272 teams of two students, Joseph Tupper and Hayden Frazier ranked among the top 10 teams during the first round of automotive repair competition. Of the top ten finishers in the region, Joe and Hayden finished in 3rd   place. Joe and Hayden both worked diligently to understand the complicated electronic systems that they were to diagnose on the vehicle they were assigned; a brand new 2011 Audi Q5. The Q5 was “bugged” with several defects and electronic faults that would challenge the most seasoned professional automobile technician.

For their achievement, both Joe and Hayden were awarded trophies and a $1,000.00 scholarship to Massachusetts Bay Community College. Audi supplied  hats and a Maglight flashlight to each student as well.

Silver Lake Regional High School, and our Automotive program in particular, is very proud of this accomplishment that brings recognition to our students, our vocational programs, and our school.
